Memorial Weekend!

This Memorial Weekend snuck up on me. Ever since I have taken the non fussy Holiday approach my mental Calendar doesn't keep track anymore. On the upside our weekend was really low key and fun. Here is a little of what we did.

We discovered a new park here in Castle Rock! It is the Rhyolite park. Of course it got it's name from the large Rhyolite rocks all over the park. Personally, I think the best find with this park is the three story tree house! The red tube slide in the back goes all the the way to the top level. Lorelei only went on it once, she decided the tan one was more her speed.  Riley however loved it!

I'm thinking Riley really loves to rock climb. Maybe a future membership to a rock gym would be fun for him...

Love the picture of Riley above because that photo is of him in mid air jumping to reach the bell. I love it when I get action shots!

We also got spend an afternoon at our old stomping grounds. We wanted to go to another splash pad, but they closed it down due to the drought. Luckily, Civic Green was open for business because they constantly recycle the water used at this park.

First Lorelei wasn't sure about the water, then she decided she could touch it.

  Now she is enjoying it

My sweet Riley loves the water

Some cute random stories from this weekend. During church on Sunday, Riley started to sing out loud "When can I see you again? When can we do this again? I got to know, when can I see you again?"  Ever since we got Wreck it Ralph (his new favorite movie) he's been singing the main song so much that I didn't realize he was singing it out loud in church until people started to look back at us.  I guess over time you really do master the art of selective hearing.

Lorelei, whenever I ask her to pick a movie it is always Willy Wonka.  So tonight we were watching Willy Wonka and she turned to me in the kitchen and asked "are we having bacon?" Almost every night she asks for bacon lately. It's so cute because she said it with this happy perkiness that made me wish we were having bacon. Unfortunately I had to burst her little bubble, but the chocolate chip cookie after dinner eased the blow.

Oh, and speaking of chocolate we went for a walk on the trails near our house. At one point there is a gulch that still has some water in it. Riley looked down at it and asked "is it chocolate?" I guess watching Wreck it Ralph and Willie Wonka has caused him to believe that some water may actually be chocolate.  I guess that can be easily confused when the water is murky and brown.

Also, before I forget, a while back Riley was standing at our sliding glass door one afternoon. I caught him with his hands outstretched towards the sky and he declared "Heavenly Father where are you, when will you come to me?" I couldn't resist laughing , he was so melodramatic.  Riley noticed me laughing and asked "why are you laughing mommy." I told him it was sweet of him to think about Heavenly Father and that someday he will be with him again. That quickly made him feel better, and I was happy that he recognized his Heavenly Father.

A Random Blog Post.

I did not pose Lorelei this way, somehow she came up with it on her own.
Fun quote from this little guy. During his prayer one night he said, "Thank you Heavenly father for my teachers (primary) they tell me to sit." I got a good laugh from that one.
My silly Riley is always stealing my son glasses. Today we met his Preschool teacher for next year and he is way excited. He was upset that it was not his first day. Luckily he will have swim lessons to entertain him until classes start.
Another one of our good friends has moved. Riley always had fun with Miss Stella.
Riley has also had a growth spurt. He is no longer a runt. He is now in the 60th percentile in height (instead of the 25th) and still is in the 90th for weight. Who knows maybe that tall recessive gene from my Grandpa will present itself in Riley. :)
The sun is so stinking bright in the mornings, but I think this picture is cute anyway. Lorlei's current favorite movie is "The Little Rascals." Both her and Riley love to sing the song "You are so Beautiful." Lorelei's version makes me laugh because she runs around singing "I am so Beautiful to me" and fluffs her hair or does something cutesy with her body language. She is all girl.

Grammy and Gpa Part 2

Wednesday (No pictures due to a snow day). Brandon and I did however get to spend the day together bowling while the kids hung out with Grammy and Grandpa.

Thursday not a so eventful day due to sickness. Poor Lorlelei got the evil cold I had been dealing with all week. On the upside Brandon was able to show his parents where he works and the kids got to play at McDonalds and the night finished off with Cafe Rio!

Friday we played for 3 hours at the Children's museum and ended the day with sweets from the Rheinlander Bakery.

A picture is not complete without his tongue
Saturday our last fun day was spent at Tiny Town! A place where Tiny people can feel as big as
giants.
We had so much fun! Thanks Grammy a Gpa for taking the time to visit with us.

Grammy & GPa part 1

Brandon had a Birthday and now he is 30! Even his parents came to celebrate and spend time with the grandkids. I'm sure Brandon's favorite part was the newly revamped computer he got to put together and new computer screen. It was like watching a little kid at the toy store.
Our first adventure (Monday) with Grammy and Grandpa (Riley calls him GPa) was the Denver zoo!

Riley and Grandpa fist bumping.

Riley's favorite animal at the zoo was a Zebra, and Lorelei's was a large fish (don't know the name of it.) We were lucky that it was a 60 degree day with full sunshine

Our second adventure (Tuesday) was Garden of the Gods. Whenever someone comes to visit we always have to  take a trip to this park. Luckily we caught it the day before the snowstorm. Each time I go I see something new and Beautiful.

Riley showing off his balancing skills.

Riley's new phase is to stick his tongue out in photo's. You will see this many times
After a nice nap in the car we headed to one of our family favorite parks. By now the temperature is plummeting fast and the wind began to pick up.

The park has a long tunnel slide. I got this picture of Lorelei going down with Riley. As you can see Riley is thoroughly enjoying the ride while Lorelei is freaking out.
Poor Grammy flew out of the same tunnel onto her bottom.
Everybody was having fun at the park.
Riley's my spider Monkey. He has no fear in his little bones. He swings all over the equipment.
